The wave of congratulatory messages for Mohanlal’s Dadasaheb Phalke Award win has been joined by none other than Amitabh Bachchan, who shared a moving note in Malayalam on X (formerly Twitter). “Mohanlal Ji, I am very happy that you have received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, feeling immense joy – the most deserving recognition! Many congratulations. I am a big fan of your work and craftsmanship. The simplicity in expressing some of the most evident emotions is truly remarkable. May you continue to honour us all with your invincible talents, and let it remain a lesson for us. With utmost respect and pride, I remain a dedicated fan forever. Namaskar,” Bachchan wrote.

The gesture has struck a chord with fans, who praised the Bollywood legend for embracing the language to celebrate Mohanlal’s achievement. Amitabh Bachchan and Mohanlal have previously shared the screen in Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag (2007) and Major Ravi’s Kandahar (2010), forging a bond that extends beyond the screen.

Mohanlal, only the second Malayali after Adoor Gopalakrishnan to be conferred with Indian cinema’s highest honour, will receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony on September 23.
