Nearly a month after its theatrical release, Mohanlal's Hridayapoorvam is set for its digital release on JioHotstar. The film will premiere on the platform on September 26. Notably, JioHotstar holds the streaming rights of all of Mohanlal's Malayalam releases post Aaraattu.

Hridayapoorvam, which marked the reunion of the actor with veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad, hit screens on August 28 alongside the new industry hit Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra. Despite Lokah's sensational run, Hridayapoorvam managed to hold steady with the support of the family audience during the Onam season.

Hridayapoorvam tells the story of a middle-aged man who undergoes a heart transplant and gradually forms an unlikely bond with his donor’s family. It also stars Premalu-fame Sangeeth Prathap, Malavika Mohanan, Siddique, and Sangita, among others.

In our review of the film, critic Avinash Ramachandran wrote, "Hridayapoorvam treads in very sketchy regions for a while before finding its feet in the family-friendly space. But it shows signs of an evolution in the filmmaker, who is ably supported by an actor who understands the thin line between cute and garish."

Mohanlal next has Vrusshabha, a multilingual period epic gearing up for release. The film directed by Nanda Kishore will hit screens on October 16, coinciding with Diwali.
