Bollywood filmmaker Sanjay Gupta’s praise for the Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra has sparked a warm exchange on X (formerly Twitter) with actor-producer Dulquer Salmaan. Sanjay, best known for films such as Kaante and Shootout at Lokhandwala, had earlier urged audiences to catch Dominic Arun’s fantasy superhero drama on the big screen, calling it “the best Indian film in the last few years.” On Monday, Dulquer responded with gratitude, writing: “Thank you so much sir!! This is so kind of you 🤗🙏.”

Sanjay, in turn, credited Dulquer for backing the project: “All credit to you for supporting them so magnanimously and making it all possible. Aap jaisa producer humein bhi mile. (Wish we too had a producer like you.) 😊😊😊” The exchange continued on Tuesday with Dulquer reflecting on his admiration for Sanjay’s work: “Sir!! You made my day! From being a massive fan of your films to getting this praise directly from you is truly an honour 🤗❤️❤️.” Gupta closed the interaction with a heartfelt response: “Meant every word bro. God bless 🤗🤗🤗.”

The conversation highlights the growing national attention on Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, which has become the runaway Onam hit in Kerala and beyond. Produced by Dulquer’s Wayfarer Films, the movie has been hailed as a rare female-led superhero film from Malayalam cinema, with Kalyani playing the titular Chandra.

With near sell-outs across prime centres and strong traction in dubbed Tamil and Telugu versions, Lokah is not only leading the Kerala box office but also edging closer to pan-Indian recognition.
