Actor Mathew Thomas recently opened up about people's changed perception of him after working with Vijay in Lokesh Kanagaraj's Leo. Speaking to 24 News, Mathew said that playing Vijay's onscreen son in the 2023 film has contributed to people treating him with a lot of love whenever he goes to Tamil Nadu. He revealed that, when they first met, Vijay talked to him about the film he was working on then, and later when it got released, about how it fared in theatres. "He has always been very caring," said Mathew. He attributed Leo's commercial success to him getting other offers from Tamil cinema. The actor also said that he received much love and care on the sets of actor-director Dhanush's Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam (NEEK). "People come to me for selfies these days," he said, expressing how working in the Vijay starrer changed his life.

At the same time, the actor suggested that he plans to focus on his home turf for the foreseeable future. "Working in Malayalam cinema gives me the most satisfaction and happiness," he said.

Speaking of which, Mathew Thomas can be seen in the horror-comedy film Nellikkampoyil Night Riders.
