Following his success in action-heavy roles, Antony Varghese is stepping up his action game with Kattalan, which is shaping up to be the biggest film of his career. On the occasion of his birthday, the makers released the film's first look, featuring the actor in an all-intense avatar, with blood smeared all over his face, while he smokes a cigar. Debutant Paul George is directing the film, and it is produced by Marco-fame Shareef Muhammed.

Kattalan's filming commenced by the end of September in Thailand. The team is currently on a break after Antony recently sustained injuries to his hand while filming an action sequence involving an elephant. Kecha Khamphakdee, known for his work in the Thai martial arts film Ong Bak, is choreographing the action in Kattalan. The film also features Pong, the elephant that featured in Ong Bak. Antony, meanwhile, is recovering under medical supervision back home. The subsequent shooting schedule has been temporarily postponed.

Kattalan, which tells an action-packed story of ivory smuggling, has dialogues penned by Unni R. It also stars Telugu actor Sunil, Marco-fame Kabir Duhan Singh, Jagadeesh, Siddique, Anson Paul, Raj Tirandasu, rapper Baby Jean, Hanan Shaah, Kill actor Parth Tiwari, and Lokah-fame Shibin S. Raghav. The film has music by Kantara-fame B Ajaneesh Loknath. cinematography by Renadive, and editing by Shameer Muhammed.
