Basil Joseph took to his official Instagram handle on Sunday to share photos of an evening he and his family spent with veteran actor Mammootty. In the first photo, his daughter, Hope Elizabeth Basil, can be seen giving a peck on Mammootty's cheek. In another photo, Basil is seen posing with the actor, along with his wife and daughter.

Sharing the photos, Basil penned a long note. "Had the rare privilege of spending an evening with a legend. It was overwhelming in the most gentle, heavenly way, a moment our family will cherish forever," he started. He then revealed an anecdote from the evening, writing, "When my little daughter looked up at him and innocently asked, 'What’s your name?', he smiled and simply said, 'Mammootty.'" That humble reply etched itself into our hearts as a core memory for a lifetime. He even took pictures on his own camera, and Hoppey and Mammookka clicked countless selfies together."

Expressing his gratitude, he continued, "For a couple of hours, he somehow made us forget who he is to the world and made us feel as if we were just sitting with a close friend. That kind of grace and warmth is beyond words. Thank you, Mammookka, from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, warmth, and for giving us an evening we will treasure forever."

Basil was last seen in a cameo in Sathyan Anthikad-Mohanlal's Hridayapoorvam. Up next, he is set to make his Tamil debut with Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi, helmed by Sudha Kongara. The film is set to hit theatres on January 14, 2026. Last seen in Bazooka, and having had a voice role in Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, Mammootty has Kalamkaval and Patriot in various stages of production.
