Actor Jayaram, who is getting widespread appreciation for his performance in Kantara: Chapter 1, recently shared about Mammootty congratulating him for his performance in the film. Speaking to Asianet News, Jayaram sounded elated about receiving the message from Mammootty. Jayaram also said he feels proud to be a part of a film like Kantara, which he believes is on course for a 1000 crore run at the box office.

Kantara: Chapter 1 has Jayaram playing King Rajashekara, one of the most pivotal roles in the film. Despite playing such a significant role, Jayaram said it was a deliberate decision to stay away from the promotions. "Rishab wanted everything about the film to be a surprise, and it has worked," he added.

Meanwhile, Kantara: Chapter 1 went past the ₹100-crore mark in just two days and is now heading towards 150 crores. With the word of mouth also largely positive, the film is expected to continue its blockbuster run. Rukmini Vasanth and Gulshan Devaiah also play key roles in it.

Jayaram, last seen in Malayalam in Abraham Ozler, next has Ashakal Aayiram coming up. It marks the veteran's fourth acting collaboration with his son Kalidas Jayaram. Oru Vadakkan Selfie-fame G Prajith is directing the film, which is scripted jointly by Jude Anthany Joseph and Aravind Rajendran.
