The release of the Mohanlal-starrer Vrusshabha, the upcoming multilingual period epic, has been postponed once again. Initially slated for a Diwali release in October and later rescheduled to November 6, the film will now hit cinemas worldwide on December 25. Announcing the new date, Mohanlal wrote on social media, “Some stories are more than cinema, they’re legacies. This Christmas, witness that legacy roar to life in #Vrusshabha. A film that celebrates emotion, grandeur, and destiny.” It is directed by Kannada filmmaker Nanda Kishore, noted for directing films like Victory, Adyaksha, Ranna, and Pogaru.
Vrusshabha is billed as a father-son drama set across two timelines. Mohanlal reportedly portrays a king in the period segment of the story. The film also features Samarjit Lankesh, Ragini Dwivedi, Roshan Meka, Shanaya Kapoor, Zara Khan, and Srikanth Meka in key roles. Its technical team includes Resul Pookutty heading sound design, Antony Samson as cinematographer, KM Prakash as editor, and Sam CS composing the music. Action choreography is handled by Peter Hein, Stunt Silva, and Nikhil.
Vrusshabha is jointly produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, CK Padma Kumar, Varun Mathur, Saurabh Mishra, Abishek S Vyas, Praveer Singh, Vishal Gurnani, and Juhi Parekh Mehta.
Mohanlal's upcoming slate also includes the third instalment of the Drishyam franchise, Mahesh Narayanan's multistarrer Patriot, which reunites him with Mammootty after over a decade, and debutant Austin Dan Thomas' tentatively titled L 365, set to go on floors in December.
