Director Rahul Sadasivan’s latest horror film, Dies Irae grossed more than 50 crore from theatres worldwide, its production banner Night Shift Studios announced a while ago. This marks another milestone for the Mohanlal family, with the legendary actor’s Thudarum and L2: Empuraan also grossing over 200 crore at the box office. The film, starring Pranav Mohanlal, minted around 25 crore from theatres in India alone so far, according to the industry tracker Sacnilk's data.

The film's plot follows a youngster (Pranav) who feels the haunting presence of the supernatural at his luxury home. As he embarks on a journey in pursuit of the answers to the mystery surrounding his residence, he discovers shocking truths about his enigmatic past and unsettling present.

Dies Irae opened in theatres a week ago to positive reviews from critics and general viewers. The audience took a special note of the performances by Pranav, Jaya Kurup and Jibin Gopinath. They also commended the film’s making aspects, which include cinematographer Shehnad Jalal's cinematography and composer Christo Xavier's works, as well as its brooding and macabre themes.
