The latest horror offering from director Rahul Sadasivan, Dies Irae minted 23.35 crore from theatres in India over the first six days of its release, according to the latest data from Sacnilk. The film grossed a little under 1 crore so far this Wednesday, its sixth day of release, marking a significant drop in collection from the prior days, as per the data.
The film stars Pranav Mohanlal as a youngster who experiences the presence of a paranormal force at his luxury residence. When he goes in search for answers, the young man comes across a puzzling mystery with ties to his past and disturbing present.
Dies Irae marks a third consecutive horror film for Rahul Sadasivan, the first two being Bhoothakaalam and Bramayugam. The film had a paid premiere the night before its worldwide release and opened to positive reviews from both critics and audiences alike. The viewers appreciated the film's technical aspects, including Shehnad Jalal's cinematography and Christo Xavier's music, its brooding and often macabre themes, and the performances by Pranav, Jibin Gopinath, and Jaya Kurup.
