The 55th Kerala State Film Awards were announced on Monday. Saji Cherian, the Minister of Cultural Affairs, announced the winners in a press meet held in Kerala Sahitya Academy Hall, Thrissur. 128 films were submitted for the competition, out of which 38 were selected for the final round. Actor-filmmaker Prakash Raj headed the jury, which also included Ranjan Pramod, Jibu Jacob, Bhagyalakshmi, Gayathri Ashokan, Nithin Lukose, Santhosh Echikkanam and C Ajoy.

While Mammootty bagged his seventh Best Actor (Male) award for his performance in Bramayugam, Shamla Hamza won the Best Actor (Female) award for her performance in Feminichi Fathima. Manjummel Boys was chosen as the Best Film, and Chidambaram was selected as the Best Director and Best Original Screenplay writer for Manjummel Boys, which won a total of 10 awards.
