Rima Kallingal-starrer Theatre's trailer to be launched at Cannes

Rima received the Kerala Film Critics Award for Best Actress this year for her performance in the film

The official trailer for Rima Kallingal's Theatre: The Myth of Reality, the new film by Biriyaani director Sajin Baabu, will be launched at the 2025 edition of Cannes Film Festival – Marché du Film in France. Ahead of this, a sneak peek has been unveiled, providing brief glimpses into the film’s narrative. Rima received the Kerala Film Critics Award for Best Actress this year for her performance in it.

According to the makers, Theatre, set in a secluded community grappling with change, is a "powerful exploration of fading traditions, feminine mysticism, and the murky boundary between myth and reality". Alongside Rima, Sudani from Nigeria actor Sarasa Balussery plays the other lead role. The film also stars Dain Davis, Pramod Veliyanad, Krishnan Balakrishnan, and Megha Rajan, Ann Saleem, Balaji Sharma, Akhil Kavalayoor, Meenakshi Raveendran, Ashwathy B and Arunsol, among others. Its technical team includes cinematographer Syamaprakash M S, editor Appu Bhattathiri, and music director Saeed Abbas.

Theatre is produced by Anjana Philip and Philip Zackaria under the banner of Anjana Talkies, with Santhosh Kottayi serving as co-producer.

Meanwhile, Rima also has Shabna Mohammed's directorial debut Delulu, alongside Anurag Kashyap, in the pipeline.
