Mohanlal's Thudarum has successfully dethroned Jude Anthany Joseph's survival thriller 2018: Everyone is a Hero (2023) to emerge as the highest-grossing film in Kerala. After 15 days of theatrical run, the Tharun Moorthy directorial is now the third highest-grossing Malayalam film ever. Only Manjummel Boys (2024) and Mohanlal's own L2: Empuraan, released earlier this year, are ahead in terms of worldwide box-office numbers.

The film which hit screens on April 25, opened to a unanimously positive response across centres. Written by Tharun and KR Sunil, the film tells the story of Shanmugham, a common man whose life turns topsy-turvy after his family is targeted by a couple of corrupt policemen. The film rode high on Mohanlal's all-round performance, which critics and commoners alike rated as one of his finest in recent times. Celebrated ad filmmaker Prakash Varma's performance as the antagonist was the other major talking point in the film. It also stars Binu Pappu, Shobana, Farhaan Faasil, Mathew Thomas, Maniyanpilla Raju, Bharathiraja, and Irshad.

Even after two weeks of run, Thudarum is continuing its steady run at the Kerala box office with considerable bookings for the weekend.
