Aadu 3, the third instalment in the Aadu franchise, was launched in Kochi on Saturday. The formal pooja and switch-on ceremony was attended by the cast and crew members, with actors Unni Mukundan and Sharafudheen present as chief guests. In a social media post, director Midhun Manuel Thomas confirmed that Aadu 3, unlike the previous instalments, will be an 'epic fantasy'. Earlier this year, he announced the team's plans to release the film for Christmas 2025, but it remains to be seen if they can stick to it.

Aadu, released in 2015, was a slapstick comedy centred around a bunch of goofy characters from the high ranges of Idukki and their fun encounters with a female goat. Though the film tanked at the box office, it gained cult status after its home video release. This inspired the makers to release a sequel in 2017, which emerged as a theatrical success.

Aadu 3 will see Jayasurya returning as Shaji Paappan, alongside franchise regulars Vinayakan, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Sunny Wayne, Saiju Kurup, Aju Varghese, Vijay Babu, Bhagath Manuel, and Indrans. Vijay Babu is also producing the film under his banner Friday Film House. More details regarding the project are awaited.
