Actor Unni Mukundan announced on Monday that he will debut as a director with a superhero film. It will be scripted by Midhun Manuel Thomas, known for directing the Aadu franchise, and thrillers like Anjaam Pathiraa and Abraham Ozler. Gokulam Gopalan's Sree Gokulam Movies is producing the film, planned as the banner's biggest project to date.

Unni, in a statement, expressed his boundless love for superhero stories from a young age. "Growing up in the era of superheroes, often dismissed as mythical, make-believe, or too far-fetched, I ended up being a thorough daydreamer. For me, these superheroes were hope in motion. They made me feel heroic. Their act of heroism mirrored in my dreams," he said, adding that he's finally "taking a proud step forward" to tell a story he's carried with him for years.

Unni, who's currently acting in a Telugu film, added that pre-production works for his directorial debut have already commenced and its shoot will begin next year. He also confirmed that the film will be released in all prominent Indian languages.

Meanwhile, Midhun is set to start shooting for the third instalment of his successful Aadu franchise. He also has a web series titled Anali expected to release later this year. In addition, he is co-producing an upcoming film featuring Aadu actors Jayasurya and Vinayakan in lead roles.
