Basil Joseph to debut in Tamil with Parasakthi

The actor is currently part of the film's Sri Lanka schedule

Malayalam actor-director Basil Joseph, who has lately been in a purple patch of sorts as a performer, is set to make his acting debut in Tamil. It has been confirmed that he is playing a prominent role in Sudha Kongara's Parasakthi, also starring Sivakarthikeyan, Jayam Ravi, Atharvaa Murali and Sreeleela. The film, billed as a political drama set in the 60s, is produced by Aakash Baskaran's Dawn Pictures. Basil is currently part of the film's Sri Lanka schedule.

Basil, who debuted as a director in 2015 with Kunjiramayanam, is best known for helming Tovino's superhero film Minnal Murali. He is also noted for his roles in films like Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, Falimy, and Sookshmadarshini. His latest release Ponman, which recently had its digital premiere on Jio Hotstar, continues to earn him praise for his portrayal of the fiery protagonist PP Ajesh.

Basil next has Marana Mass, co-produced by Tovino, lined up for release in April. He is also simultaneously working on the scripting and pre-production of his next directorial.
