Manu Ashokan, best known for helming the Parvathy Thiruvoth-starrer Uyare and Tovino Thomas-Aishwarya Lekshmi's Kaanekkaane, announced his third directorial venture titled Junior through social media on Sunday. Based on a story by Anjana Nayar, the film is scripted by the notable writing duo Bobby-Sanjay, who also collaborated with Manu on his previous two films.

Junior is produced by Venu Gopalakrishnan and TR Shamsudheen under the banners of Kaalish Productions and Dream Katcher Productions. While there is speculation that the upcoming film is set in a campus environment and will feature a largely new cast, further details regarding its ensemble, technical crew, genre and plot remain awaited. It is currently unclear whether Junior is a revival or reworking of Ha Yauvaname, a film by the same team announced in 2023, which also promised to feature new talents and was backed by Dream Katcher Productions.

Meanwhile, Manu is also working on an upcoming JioHotstar series titled Eyes, which is also scripted by Bobby‑Sanjay from a story by Anjana. The show, which wrapped up last year, reportedly stars Nikhila Vimal, Dev Mohan, Shruti Ramachandran, Saniya Iyappan and Kani Kusruti in key roles.
