It has been three years since the release of Nithya Menen's Malayalam film 19(1)(a), directed by Indhu VS. On the occasion, Nithya took to Instagram to write a few lines about the film, which marked her first collaboration with Vijay Sethupathi. The actor likened the film to experiencing "coolness under a ficus tree," elaborating it as "The kind where you want to lay down and go to sleep because it’s so peaceful." The actor added, "We had one of those trees too , as a strong presence around us and in the film. It must be some sort of great blessing or luck - to be able to do such diverse films all the time."

Nithya then seemed to allude to her collaboration with her Thalaivan Thalaivii co-star Vijay Sethupathi as she wrote, "Same actors , but such diametrically opposite films." She continued, "It is the variety and diversity of concepts and tone that I love the most about work."

19(1)(a) stars Nithya as a photostat store owner who chances upon the draft of a revolutionary author's (Vijay) novel. The title is a reference to the article in the Constitution of India that pertains to freedom of speech and expression. The film only has some combination scenes featuring Nithya and Vijay, although it is their first film together. On the other hand, Thalaivan Thalaivii stars Vijay and Nithya as a married couple who is always engaged in altercations.
