Sangharsha Ghadana (The Art of Warfare), written, edited and directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Krishand, will be released in select theatres on August 8. The announcement was made by the makers through social media on Wednesday. The film features Sanup Padaveedan and Vishnu Agasthya in the lead roles.

Sangharsha Ghadana premiered at the 2024 International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) in the Malayalam Cinema Today section, where it was noted for its ambitious narrative structure in reworking gangster tropes through a philosophical lens and using historical parallels to examine conflict and power.

Based on Sun Tzu's book The Art of Warfare, the film revolves around a former gangster who returns to his homeland after an attack on his old gang. As he confronts the consequences of his past decisions, his path unfolds in parallel with the teachings of the aforementioned ancient Chinese text on warfare.

Sangharsha Ghadana's cast also includes Rahul Rajagopal, Zhinz Shan, Silesh K Lekshmi, Mrudula Murali, Jain Andrews, Akhil Raj, Eveyln Jobin, Ponnan Thevara, Manoj Kana, Seejan and Sree. The film has cinematography by Prayag Mukundan and music by Rajesh Naroth. It is produced by Krishand Films in association with Joker Showreels.

Krishand, best known for helming critically acclaimed films like Aavasavyuham and Purusha Pretham, is currently working on his latest feature Masthishka Maranam. He also has an upcoming SonyLIV web series, Sambhava Vivaranam Naalara Sangham, awaiting release later this year. Additionally, actor-producer Maniyanpilla Raju recently confirmed that Krishand will join forces with Mohanlal for a new film, though the current status of the project remains unknown.
