The makers of Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen's Lokah: Chapter 1: Chandra, written and directed by Tharangam-fame Dominic Arun, have released the teaser for the upcoming film on Monday. Scheduled to hit theatres for Onam this year, this ambitious fantasy entertainer is produced by Dulquer Salmaan's Wayfarer Films.

The 1-minute 29-second teaser opens with a grim visual on a full moon night, centred on an unfinished multi-storey building. We then see Naslen, looking shocked as he spots something atop another structure. Glimpses of futuristic and mystical settings follow this. A tracking shot introduces a female figure walking through a water-filled cave, soon revealing Kalyani as Chandra. We then catch glimpses of a young girl accompanied by a dog, running through a forest. Naslen’s voiceover follows, saying, “I believed these were just myths,” as we see visuals of him alongside Kalyani. The teaser returns to a mix of futuristic and medieval imagery before another voiceover, this time from a small child, asks in wonder, “Are you saying that Chandra is a superhero?” What follows are action-packed sequences featuring Kalyani battling an army in a visibly dystopian setting. The fantasy film promises to be a visual spectacle unlike anything Malayalam cinema has seen before.

Actor Santhy Balachandran has been credited with additional screenplay and dramaturgy for Lokah: Chapter 1: Chandra. On the technical front, the film has cinematography by Nimish Ravi, editing by Chaman Chakko, music by Jakes Bejoy, and production design by National Award winner Banglan. The action choreography is handled by Yannick Ben, who has previously worked on projects such as The Family Man, Jawan, Maaveeran and Citadel: Honey Bunny, among others. He made his Malayalam debut earlier this year with the Tovino Thomas-Trisha starrer Identity.

Apart from Malayalam, Lokah: Chapter 1: Chandra will be having dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.
