Mammootty's next with debutant director Jithin K Jose has been titled Kalamkaval. The makers also unveiled its first look, which looks like a shot from a scuffle. Mammootty is seen trying to overpower someone, while there's a half-bitten cigarette in his mouth. Sharing the poster, the makers wrote, "Wait for another 'never before seen' Mammootty to be unleashed."

Mammootty reportedly plays a grey-shaded role in the film, which also stars Vinayakan in the lead. A poster featuring a silhouette shot of the actor has also been shared, introducing him as the 'Other side of Kalamkaval'.

Jithin K Jose debuted by penning the story for the Dulquer Salmaan-starrer Kurup (2021). He has co-scripted Kalamkaval with Jishnu Sreekumar. Produced by MammoottyKampany, the film has Faisal Ali as the cinematographer, Praveen Prabhakar as the editor, and Kishkindha Kaandam-fame Mujeeb Majeed as the composer.

Mammootty next has Bazooka, a thriller directed by debutant Deeno Dennis slated to hit theatres on April 10. He is currently shooting for Mahesh Narayanan’s multi-starrer, reportedly a big-budgeted political thriller, co-starring Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, and Kunchacko Boban. He also has a mass entertainer with Falimy director Nithish Sahadev in the lineup.
