On Friday, veteran actor Mohanlal has publicly expressed his support for producer Antony Perumbavoor amidst the ongoing dispute over the proposed Kerala film industry strike. Taking to social media, Mohanlal shared Antony’s open letter, which criticised senior producer G Suresh Kumar’s remarks about the industry, with the caption, "We can always stand with cinema."

Mohanlal’s endorsement adds significant weight to Antony’s stance, as discussions surrounding the strike, box office figures, and L2: Empuraan’s budget continue to dominate industry circles. The actor’s post has garnered widespread attention, with many interpreting it as a firm stance against the Kerala Film Producers' Association’s (KFPA) decision to halt film activities from June 1.

Antony’s letter had accused Suresh Kumar of making misleading statements about the industry’s financial state and questioned the basis of the proposed strike. In response, Suresh Kumar reaffirmed that the decision was made collectively.

L2: Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, is slated to hit theatres worldwide on March 27.
