Filming for Mohanlal and Sathyan Anthikad's Hridayapoorvam commenced in Kochi on Monday with a traditional pooja ceremony attended by the lead actor, director, and crew. It marks the 18th collaboration between the actor-director duo, reuniting them after a decade-long break since their last film together, Ennum Eppozhum (2015).
Billed as a family entertainer primarily set in Pune, Hridayapoorvam is based on a story by Akhil Sathyan, with debutant Sonu TP penning the screenplay and dialogues. The film features Malavika Mohanan as the female lead, alongside Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala actor Sangita Madhavan Nair, Premalu-fame Sangeeth Prathap and Siddique in pivotal roles. On the technical front, it has cinematographer Anu Moothedath (Sufiyum Sujathayum), art director Prasanth Madhav (Aadujeevitham), State Award-winning sound designer Anil Radhakrishnan (Carbon) and music composer Justin Prabhakaran, who previously worked with Akhil on his directorial debut Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum (2023).
Notably, Hridayapoorvam marks Mohanlal’s first film to employ sync sound technology, a detail confirmed by Akhil in an exclusive conversation with CE. Produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas, the film is slated to hit theatres on August 25.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal is gearing up for the release of L2: Empuraan, the sequel to Lucifer (2019). The film, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, is set to hit cinemas worldwide on March 27. Additionally, the actor awaits the release of Tharun Moorthy's Thudarum, which has been indefinitely postponed from its previously announced date.
