Abhilash Pillai, the writer behind the successful film Malikappuram, has officially announced his next venture—a collaboration with filmmaker M Mohanan. The announcement was made through social media, where Abhilash shared a photograph alongside Mohanan, revealing that their upcoming project will be in a genre they both admire. Reflecting on his inspiration, Abhilash mentioned that films like Katha Parayumbol, Manikyakkallu, and Aravindante Adhithikal had instilled in him a desire to "craft a screenplay for Mohan ettan".

Abhilash, who previously penned Anand Sreebala (2024), is currently busy with Sumathi Valavu, a horror fantasy film that features Arjun Ashokan, Balu Varghese, Malavika Manoj, Gokul Suresh, and Saiju Kurup. It marks the reunion of Abhilash and director Vishnu Sasi Shankar, who previously collaborated on Malikappuram.

On the other hand, Mohanan’s latest film Oru Jaathi Jaathakam hit the screens on January 31. The film, a comedy entertainer, is headlined by Vineeth Sreenivasan and scripted by Rakesh Mantodi, who is best known for penning Thira and Godha.
