Earlier, we reported about Vinayakan starring in a key role in director Tom Emmatty's upcoming film Perunnal. Earlier today, its makers dropped a new poster for the film, featuring Vinayakan. The poster shows Vinayakan's character riding a horse even as he holds an axe in his right hand. Sharing the poster on Instagram, director Tom wrote, "A fierce presence. A powerful aura. Vinayakan steps into the world of Perunnal with unmatched intensity." The film also stars Shine Tom Chacko, Vishnu Govind, Sagar Surya, Junaiz VP, and Mokksha in important roles.

Perunnal brings back Tom Emmatty into direction after Oru Mexican Aparatha (2017), featuring Tovino Thomas in the lead and the Anson Paul starrer The Gambler (2019). Tom is also backing the film under his production banner Emmatty Company alongside Manoj Kumar KP of Suryabharathy Creations and Jolly Lonappan of Jollywood Movies. The makers are yet to reveal any plot details. That said, the poster and the tagline, which reads "Krovanmarum Srappenmarum," hint at a period film.

The first schedule of production on the film has been wrapped in and around Vagamon. According to a press release from the makers, the film is now in the last phase of principal photography. The makers plan a 2026 release.

On the technical front, the Vinayakan starrer has cinematography by Arun Chalil, music by Manikandan Ayyappa, and editing by Rohith VS Variyath.

Coming back to Vinayakan, the actor earned much appreciation for his performance as a police officer in director Jithin K Jose's Kalamkaval, opposite Mammootty. The actor is also set to come back together with Rajinikanth and Nelson Dilipkumar for the sequel to Jailer. His upcoming films include director Midhun Manuel Thomas's Aadu 3 as well.
