Director Dominic Arun's Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra tops the list of the highest-grossing Malayalam films of 2025, published by industry tracker Sacnilk. According to the tracker, the Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer has grossed 303.86 crore from theatres worldwide. Also starring Naslen, Lokah is also the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time. Second on the list is Tharun Moorthy's Thudarum, starring Mohanlal, Prakash Varma, and Shobana, among others. The data shows that Thudarum earned 235.38 crore at the global box office. Interestingly, despite the mixed reviews, Mohanlal's L2: Empuraan, also starring and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, is considered a 'superhit', with a worldwide gross collection of 266.81 crore. Mohanlal makes another entry in the list, on the fifth spot, with Hridayapoorvam, directed by Sathyan Anthikad.

Fourth on the list of the highest-grossing Malayalam films of 2025 is director Rahul Sadasivan's Dies Irae, starring Pranav Mohanlal. The film marked a 'hat-trick' of successful films for director Rahul, who earlier tasted critical acclaim with the direct-to-streaming release Bhoothakaalam and critical and commercial success with Bramayugam. The rest of the films on the list are Alappuzha Gymkhana, Kalamkaval (which is still running in theatres), Officer on Duty, Rekhachithram, and Eko.

All the aforementioned films, except for Lokah, Thudarum and Dies Irae have the blockbuster tag, although the Kalyani starrer is called an 'all-time blockbuster'. Meanwhile, Kalamkaval is set to continue its theatrical run into 2026, so we can only know its box office verdict (meaning whether it is a superhit or a blockbuster) later. Interestingly, director Dinjith Ayyathan and writer-cinematographer Bahul Ramesh's Eko is also called a 'superhit' on Sacnilk's compilation, unlike the Kerala Film Producers' Association's recent list that categorised it as a mere hit.
