Nivin Pauly's latest film Sarvam Maya, directed by Akhil Sathyan, grossed 19 crore from theatres worldwide in its first two days, reports industry tracker Sacnilk. Over the first three days, meanwhile, its net collection from theatres in India stands at 12 crore, the industry tracker's data reveals. On the other hand, things look bleak for the Mohanlal starrer Vrusshabha, directed by Nanda Kishore, because, according to the data, it has only earned a net collection of around 1 crore from theatres in India over the first three days. When it comes to reviews, too, Sarvam Maya leads the way, with most of the critics giving it positive feedback. On the other hand, reviewers have mostly been severely critical of Vrusshabha.
The relatively better performance of the Nivin Pauly starrer once again shows that audiences consider the quality of content more than the presence of stars in Malayalam cinema. Mohanlal is undeniably a bigger star, but Nivin's film is getting all the plaudits and the greater theatrical footfall. Recently, when Eko and Vilaayath Budha hit theatres at the same time, too, the Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer outdid the film (according to reports) from the Kishkindha Kaandam makers, director Dinjith Ayyathan and writer-cinematographer Bahul Ramesh, only on the opening day. Vilaayath Budha is not part of the recent list of commercially successful films of 2025 released by the producers association, whereas Eko is classified as a 'hit' in it.
