Shane Nigam's Haal, which was a caught in a legal tussle with the Censor Board, is finally gearing up to hit screens with the court's approval. The makers have confirmed it as a Christmas release, but are yet to specify a date.

Haal, directed by debutant Veeraa, had drawn significant attention after the Censor Board demanded the removal of certain portions—six in total, including a scene showing the consumption of beef biryani. In response, the makers approached the High Court challenging the decision.

Though the CBFC had maintained that screening permission would be granted only if the said portions were removed, the Single Bench annulled four of these cuts. Appeals filed by both the CBFC and the Catholic Congress were dismissed by the High Court, with the Division Bench upholding the Single Bench's ruling. The judges had personally watched the film before delivering the verdict.

Haal scripted by Nishad Koya is a romantic drama with Sakshi Vaidya as the female lead. The cast also includes Johny Antony, Madhupal, Sangeetha Madhavan Nair, Joy Mathew, Nishant Sagar, Niyas Becker, Riyaz Narmakala, Suresh Krishna, Raveendran, Sohan Seenulal, Manoj KU., Unniraja, and Sreedhanya.

Haal has music by Nandagopan V, cinematography by Ravi Chandran and editing by Akash Joseph Varghese. It is produced by Juby Thomas under the banner of JVJ Productions.
