Following the much-awaited verdict in the 2017 actor assault case, which saw the court convicting the first six accused while acquitting Dileep and another accused, there's a general divide among the public, with a large section welcoming the court's ruling, while many expressed disappointment. When asked for his opinion, actor Tovino Thomas stressed that the survivor should get justice and all the culprits should be punished. The actor was returning after casting his vote at a polling booth in Irinjalakuda, Thrissur, when he addressed the media.

Tovino said, "The survivor should get justice, and culprits have to be punished. I haven't seen the case file, nor did I witness the incident, so I think I should trust the court's verdict. But whoever has committed the crime shouldn't be spared under any circumstances." He also welcomed the government's decision to appeal in the High Court.

The case relates to an incident on February 17, 2017, when a prominent female actor was abducted and sexually assaulted inside a moving vehicle in Kochi, with the perpetrators filming it. Dileep was arrested a few months later on charges of criminal conspiracy. He spent over 80 days in prison before being granted bail.

Meanwhile, the court is set to pronounce the sentencing on December 12.
