Sanju Samson and Kerala cricket team catch Kalamkaval

Mammootty's Kalamkaval is the current talk of the town, with the film opening to big opening numbers at the Kerala box office. Indian cricketer Sanju Samson caught the film on Friday along with his Kerala cricket teammates, including players like Vishnu Vinod, Vignesh Puthur, and KM Asif, among others. The players watched the film from Lucknow, where they are playing the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Photos from their theatre visit have been shared on social media by MammoottyKampany.

Directed by debutant Jithin K Jose, Kalamkaval is an investigative thriller about a police hunt for a serial killer. Mammootty plays the cold-blooded killer, while Vinayakan essays a sincere police officer heading the investigation. The performances of both actors are getting widely praised, with Mammootty's role as the evil antagonist rated among his finest in recent years.

Kalamkaval is scripted by director Jithin and Jishnu Sreekumar. It has music by Mujeeb Majeed, cinematography by Faisal Ali, and editing by Praveen Prabhakar. The cast also includes Jibin Gopinath, Rajisha Vijayan, Gayathri Arun, and Biju Pappan, among others.

According to early trade reports, Kalamkaval has grossed over ₹14 crores globally, with around ₹4.92 crores from Kerala alone. It is Mammootty's second-biggest opener after Turbo and the third-highest opening this year after Empuraan and Thudarum.
