For a change, Vinayakan is more subtle in the teaser of Kalamkaval, while Mammootty’s simple yet bang-on introduction teases a more menacing side. The teaser was unveiled by makers on Thursday, as it is set to play alongside the Onam release Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra.

In the teaser for Kalamkaval, Vinayakan, renowned for his menacing villain roles, appears to adopt a more understated, nuanced character, while Mammootty’s introduction hints at a morally complex, possibly anti-hero lead. This dynamic sets the stage for a gripping, character-driven thriller, promising layered performances and psychological depth from both actors.

Kalamkaval marks the directorial debut of Jithin K Jose, who previously wrote the story for Dulquer Salmaan’s Kurup. The film stars Mammootty in a morally complex role, opposite Vinayakan, with Jibin Gopinath in a key role. Meera Jasmine, Gayatri Arun, and Rajisha Vijayan are also set to play supporting roles in the film.

The screenplay is co-written by Jithin and Jishnu Sreekumar. The movie is produced by Mammootty Kampany, with Faisal Ali handling cinematography, Praveen Prabhakar editing, and Mujeeb Majeed composing the score. A release date for the film is yet to be announced.
