The makers of Kalamkaval, the much-anticipated Mammootty-starrer, have announced that the film’s teaser will debut on the big screen this week. The teaser will be attached to Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, which is set to hit theatres on August 28 as part of the Onam line-up.

The move has sparked fresh excitement among fans awaiting updates on Kalamkaval, which wrapped filming in November 2024. Directed by debutant Jithin K Jose, the film is backed by Mammootty Kampany and features the superstar in what is rumoured to be one of his most morally complex roles yet, opposite Vinayakan. Jibin Gopinath also appears in a key role, with the screenplay penned by Jithin alongside Jishnu Sreekumar. On the technical front, it brings together cinematographer Faisal Ali, editor Praveen Prabhakar, and Kishkindha Kaandam-fame composer Mujeeb Majeed.

Meanwhile, Lokah – Chapter 1: Chandra, to which the teaser is attached, is an ambitious fantasy entertainer headlined by Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen. Produced by Wayfarer Films, the banner led by Mammootty’s son Dulquer Salmaan, the film is among the most high-profile Onam releases this year. The other major festive releases are Mohanlal's Hridayapoorvam and Fahadh Faasil's Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, also featuring Kalyani in the lead.
