Ever since Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph announced a third part for their blockbuster series Drishyam, expectations have been massive among the audience, with multiple fan theories and speculations about how the story will be taken forward. Triggering further intrigue, Jeethu Joseph, in a recent discussion as part of the Manorama News Conclave, said that Drishyam 3 will not be a thriller. "I believe it's not a thriller and you will know why after watching the film," he said.
Even while acknowledging the hype associated with the film and its business potential, he said the third part was never conceived for the sake of making money. "After watching Drishyam 2, Lalettan casually asked if there would be a third part; I said I don't know, but if it happens, the climax should be like this. He liked that idea and asked me to develop it. It took me some time to finish it, but I made it clear to Antony (Perumbavoor) that I'm not doing this for money. So I don't believe it's a thriller, just an organic progression of what should happen to Georgekutty and family. There might be risks involved, but that's how I conceived it," Jeethu said.
Earlier this year, in May, the makers announced that Drishyam 3’s shooting would begin in October. Besides Malayalam, it will be made in Hindi and Kannada, with Ajay Devgn and Venkatesh reprising Mohanlal's role. Jeethu also recently said the teams are exploring the possibility of a simultaneous release for all three versions.
Meanwhile, the director is awaiting the release of his new film, Mirage, starring Asif Ali and Aparna Balamurali. He has also finished shooting for Valathu Vashathe Kallan, headlined by Biju Menon and Joju George.
