Rajesh Madhavan's Dheeran will have its digital premiere on Sun NXT on August 22, the streamer announced on Thursday. The film, released theatrically on July 4, marked the directorial debut of Devadath Shaji, who co-wrote the Mammootty-starrer Bheeshma Parvam.

Dheeran also features Jagadish, Ashokan, Manoj K Jayan, Vineeth, Sudheesh, Sidharth Bharathan, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Aswathy Manoharan, Indumathy Manikandan, Shabareesh Varma and Srikrishna Dayal, among others. The film's technical crew includes cinematographer Harikrishnan Lohithadas, editor Finn George Varghese, and composer Mujeeb Majeed. It is produced by Lakshmi Warrier and Ganesh Menon under the Cheers Entertainments banner, known for backing films such as VikrithiJan.E.ManJaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, and Falimy.

An excerpt from the CE review of the film reads, "While Dheeran is watchable and often funny, it falls short of being the wild comedic ride it sets out to be. Several setups feel familiar, and some jokes arrive too early to land effectively. The second hour brings in a gangster subplot that tries to raise the stakes but feels rushed and undercooked."

Meanwhile, Rajesh is awaiting the release of his directorial debut Pennum Porattum, which wrapped up its shooting last year. Billed as a comedy entertainer featuring newcomers in the lead, the film is produced by Santhosh T Kuruvilla under the banner of STK Frames.
