After months of speculation about its release, the makers of the Mammootty-Vinayakan starrer Kalamkaval have finally broken their silence with the unveiling of a new poster on Sunday. The update has put fresh hope among fans that the film, which wrapped production in November 2024, is moving closer to release.
The striking poster, carrying the tagline 'The Venom Beneath', shows Mammootty seated confidently with a cigarette, at the centre of a red spider web, wearing a knowing smile and exuding menace. On closer inspection, the web intriguingly incorporates the shapes of female faces within its rings, adding an eerie undertone. The caption shared alongside the poster read: “What lies beneath is deadlier than you think 🔥 #Kalamkaval On The Way.. Stay Tuned for More Updates.”
Directed by debutant Jithin K Jose, who earlier wrote the story for Dulquer Salmaan’s Kurup (2021), Kalamkaval features Mammootty in what is believed to be an extremely morally grey role opposite Vinayakan. Jibin Gopinath also plays a key part. The screenplay has been co-written by Jithin and Jishnu Sreekumar. Backed by Mammootty Kampany, the film has Faisal Ali as the cinematographer, Praveen Prabhakar as the editor, and Kishkindha Kaandam-fame Mujeeb Majeed composing the score.
