Thudarum star Prakash Varma wishes Soubin Shahir luck as Coolie releases, calls him ‘best export from Kerala'

Coolie marks Soubin's Tamil debut

Earlier today, ad filmmaker and Thudarum star Prakash Varma took to his Instagram Stories to wish Soubin Shahir luck on the release of his latest film Coolie, co-starring Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The filmmaker and actor wrote, “Good luck for Coolie dearest Soubin. You’re the best export from Kerala. We love you and are super proud of you brother.” Prakash also shared a still of his with Soubin.

Coolie marks Soubin’s debut in Tamil cinema. The actor plays a character named Dayal in the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial. Recently, the actor’s energetic dance for the song ‘Monica’ from the film went viral, earning appreciation from the film’s director Lokesh.

Rajinikanth also holds Soubin's performance in Coolie in high regard. "I was blown away by his performance. What an actor," Rajinikanth said at a recent Coolie promotional event, drawing a gesture of gratitude from Soubin.

Coolie marks the first collaboration between Rajinikanth and Lokesh. Its Thursday release coincides with Rajinikanth's golden jubilee, and the film marks the 171st in the actor's career. It also stars Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Nagarjuna, and Sathyaraj. The cast includes Aamir Khan and Pooja Hegde in cameo roles. Soubin is not the only Malayali presence in the film, though. Reba Monica John plays a supporting role in Coolie. On the other hand, it also has cinematography by Gireesh Gangadharan, known for his work on films such as Guppy, Angamaly Diaries, Jallikattu, and Kali. Director Ashiq Abu also gave a shout out to Soubin and Gireesh on Wednesday, the day before the release of Coolie.
