The makers of the Arjun Ashokan-starrer Thalavara release the film's teaser. Presented and co-produced by Mahesh Narayanan, it is helmed by Archana 31 Not Out director Akhil Anilkumar, who has co-written the screenplay with Appu Aslam.

The teaser begins with Arjun, a supermarket salesman with vitiligo, asking customer Revathy Sharma if she will pay by UPI or cash. She says UPI, and he curtly replies that they do not accept it. Revathy abandons her items, prompting Arjun to politely call her “sister” and explain he would have to restock them. She retorts, “Good luck with that”, and storms off, accidentally walking into the glass door. We meet Arjun’s parents, played by Ashokan and Devadarshini. Arjun says he has been fired again, enduring a cruel remark from another man that customers avoid him because of his face. He is shown insecure in front of cameras, convinced he will not look good. Revathy arrives elsewhere, and Ashokan remarks she “looks like the heroine”. In the following voiceover, Arjun dismisses her as “not his type”. Brief glimpses follow of the pair growing closer, family disapproval, and Revathy’s frustrated demand to know his “problem”. Arjun recalls a failed college romance due to fears about his skin condition. The teaser ends with a door opening to him, hinting at a heartfelt drama on prejudice, self-worth and connection.

Thalavara’s also stars Aathira Maryam, Sharath Sabha, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Prashanth Murali, Sam Mohan, Hareesh Kumar, Sohan Seenulal, Shaju Sreedhar, Vishnu Raghu, Muhammed Rafi, Manoj Moses, Shebin Benson, Aswath Lal and Amit Mohan Rajeshwari. On the technical front, the film has cinematography by Anurudh Aneesh, editing by Rahul Radhakrishnan and music by the band Electronic Kili. Scheduled to hit theatres on August 15, it is backed by Shebin Backer through his namesake production banner, along with Mahesh’s Moving Narratives.
