Sandra Thomas has lately been in the eye of a storm following her fallout with the top brass of the Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA). The actor-producer's recent revelations about Mammootty have further created a storm in the industry. She revealed that Mammootty had requested her to withdraw her complaint against the office-bearers of the producers' association and his subsequent decision to opt out of an already-committed project with her. Producers Listin Stephen, Badusha NM and many others criticised Sandra for dragging Mammootty's name into the controversy, but she has now clarified that it was never her intention.
Ever since Sandra's revelations, there have been conflicting reports about which complaint Mammoottty asked her to withdraw. For the uninitiated, Sandra has currently filed multiple cases. She first filed a case in October 2024 against some KFPA office-bearers, alleging an attempt to outrage her modesty after inviting her to settle a production dispute. She then filed a separate case against producer Anto Joseph and filmmaker B Unnikrishnan, who allegedly threatened her following her support for the Hema Commission Report. More recently, she moved the High Court against the KFPA's decision to reject her nominations to contest for the association's president and secretary elections on the grounds that she had produced only two films under her current banner.
In a press meet held on Saturday, Sandra clarified that Mammoottty's request was to withdraw the sexual harassment case filed last October against the KFPA office-bearers. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the sexual assault cases in the Malayalam film industry filed the chargesheet in this case in April, arraigning KFPA president Anto Joseph, a close associate of Mammootty, as the key accused, while secretary B Rakesh was the second accused. Executive committee members Anil Thomas and Ouseppachan Valakkuzhi are the other accused.
Speaking to the media, Sandra added that she has no complaints about Mammoottty approaching her to withdraw the case and that it was his "choice" to opt out of the project they had planned together. Along with that, she also lashed out at Listin Stephen for calling her current fight a 'publicity stunt'. Stressing that she is indeed eligible to contest in the KFPA elections as per the rules in the bylaw, Sandra added that she looks forward to the High Court's verdict on Monday.
