The song Minnalvala from director Anuraj Manohar’s Narivetta, starring Tovino Thomas, is at the top of Spotify’s compilation of songs for the last week of July for the Kochi region. The compilation has caught the attention of composer Jakes Bejoy. The composer has also shared through Instagram Stories that he is back on X with an official account after the hack and suspension of his old page.

Minnalvala’ has been trending on social media reels since the release of the song earlier this year. It has vocals by Sid Sriram and Sithara as well as Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri’s lyrics. Interestingly, the news about ‘Minnalvala’ topping the Spotify charts comes on Kaithapram's 75th birthday.

The video for the romantic track features actors Tovino and Priyamvada Krishnan. The title of the song, which means "bangle of lightning," is a term that Kaithapram borrowed from the epic poem Raghuvamsam by Kalidasa. In the poem, the expression describes Goddess Sita's arms being decorated with “bangles of lightning” as Ravana abducts her.

Narivetta is a political action thriller inspired by the real-life 2003 Muthanga tribal protest in Kerala. It explores themes of land rights and the conflict between the police and marginalized communities.
