State Award-winning actor Vincy Aloshious has formally lodged a complaint against fellow actor Shine Tom Chacko, alleging inappropriate behaviour during the shoot of the upcoming Malayalam film Soothravakyam. The complaint has been submitted to the Kerala Film Chamber as well as the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of the aforementioned film.
The Kerala Film Chamber confirmed it will take the matter seriously. General Secretary Saji Nanthyattu said the chamber's monitoring committee will meet on Monday to assess the complaint. Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) expressed support for Vincy, with executive member Jayan Cherthala stating that appropriate disciplinary measures would be considered. Meanwhile, the Kochi Excise Department has announced it will seek information from Vincy regarding her claims of drug use on set.
The development follows a detailed Instagram video posted by Vincy, in which she addressed criticism over her recent remarks at an anti-drug campaign, where she said she would no longer work with actors who use narcotics. In the video, she recounted a troubling incident from a film set where a male co-star, allegedly under the influence of drugs, behaved inappropriately with her and a fellow female actor.
Vincy stated that the actor, identified in the complaint as Shine Tom Chacko, made her work environment uncomfortable with unprofessional and erratic behaviour. “When I had a minor issue with my costume, he offered to ‘fix it’ in front of everyone,” she said. She also claimed to have witnessed him exhale a white powdery substance during a rehearsal. Responding to online backlash suggesting her comments were made for attention or to cover a lack of roles, Vincy said, “I have the courage to admit I’m waiting for meaningful work. But this is about drawing boundaries at the workplace, not personal gain.”
