On Wednesday, Asif Ali and Divya Prabha’s upcoming film was officially launched in Fujairah, UAE, with a switch-on ceremony attended by the cast and crew. The film is directed by Thamar KV, who gained critical acclaim for his 2023 debut 1001 Nunakal, which premiered at the 27th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).
Produced by Ajith Vinayaka, with Crispin Dominic serving as co-producer, the yet-to-be-titled film also stars Manjummel Boys actor Deepak Parambol and Orhan in key roles. Thamar, a Dubai-based filmmaker, delved into the lives of Malayali expatriates in 1001 Nunakal. His upcoming second feature, which he has also written, will also be revisiting the Gulf backdrop while blending elements of a feel-good drama with survival themes. Govind Vasantha has been signed as the music composer, with further details about the technical crew expected to be announced soon.
Meanwhile, Asif is juggling multiple projects, including Rekhachithram, Tiki Taka, Abhyanthara Kuttavali, and a sequel to Thalavan, all in various stages of production.
Divya was last seen in Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light, alongside Kani Kusruti, Chhaya Kadam, and Hridhu Haroon in the lead roles. The critically acclaimed film, which was released theatrically in India on November 22, earlier won the prestigious Grand Prix at the 77th Cannes Film Festival.
