As Manjummel Boys continues its successful run at the box office, it is earning new fans from the film fraternity. The latest to join the Manjummel Boys fan club is Guna director Santhana Bharathi. In his recent interview with Cinema Vikatan, Bharathi said that the Malayalam film brought tears to his eyes and that he did not realise that the Guna cave is such a dangerous place until he saw it. Chidambaram wrote and directed the film based on the real-life incident of a group of friends going to the cave on vacation and getting stuck there. The survival thriller makes many references to Guna, starring Kamal Haasan and Roshini, including the cave and the ‘Kanmani Anbodu’ song.

Bharathi said that the audience in the theatre where he watched Manjummel Boys greeted the song reference in the film with rapturous applause. Earlier, Kamal Haasan met the team behind Manjummel Boys at his Chennai office.

The film, which came out in theatres worldwide on February 22, stars Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Ganapathi, and Balu Varghese in pivotal roles. It was shot in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
