POCSO case registered against actor Koottickal Jayachandran for sexually abusing a four-year-old

The woman, who made the complaint, alleged that the actor had abused the child after taking advantage of the family's domestic problems

A four-year-old girl has been the victim of sexual abuse, and a police complaint has been lodged against actor Koottickal Jayachandran, who is now facing charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The girl's mother reported the incident to the Kasaba police station in Kozhikode, which subsequently registered a case.

The woman, who made the complaint, alleged that the actor had abused the child after taking advantage of the family's domestic problems. Following the filing of the complaint, the police visited the woman's home and took a statement from her. As per the guidance of the district's child protection unit, the police also recorded the statement of the child, who was a victim of the alleged abuse. The investigation is ongoing.

Jayachandran, a Kottayam native, began his career as a mimicry artist and gained recognition as the host of several comedy programmes on Surya TV. Side by side, he delved into acting in movies. He has been part of films like Detective (2007), My Boss (2012), and Drishyam (2013), among others. The actor's last appearance was in the 2022 film Pathonpatham Noottandu, helmed by Vinayan.
