Jananam 1947 Pranayam Thudarunnu will be streaming on ManoramaMAX from June 14, announced the makers. The film stars Leela Samson and Jayarajan Kozhikode in the lead roles. It is written, directed and produced by Abijith Asokan, who previously backed and co-wrote the critically acclaimed Kolumittayi (2016).

Jananam 1947 Pranayam Thudarunnu also stars Anu Sithara, Deepak Parambol, Noby Marcose, Irshad Ali, Pauly Valsan, Nandan Unni, Krishnaprabha, Sajath Bright and Ambi Neenasam in prominent roles. The film was released theatrically on March 15 and opened to positive responses from the critics. It has cinematography by Santhosh Anima, editing by Kiran Das and music by Govind Vasantha.

An excerpt from the CE review read, "Jananam 1947 Pranayam Thudarunnu is the closest Malayalam cinema has got to the MT Vasudevan Nair classic, Oru Cheru Punchiri. It exudes the same warmth, comfort and hope."

In an exclusive conversation with CE, director Abijith said, "MT sir's film was definitely my major point of reference—considering its focus on two elderly individuals—but I have consciously tried my best to avoid any similarity. I only intended to evoke the same heartwarming feeling from it. If people are reminded of and mention MT sir's classic alongside my film, there's no greater appreciation I could receive as a filmmaker."
