Devadoothan (2000) will be theatrically rereleased on July 26, announced the makers on Tuesday in an event to unveil a new trailer for the film. The function was attended by the film's lead actor Mohanlal, director Sibi Malayil, writer Reghunath Paleri, cinematographer Santosh Thundiyil, lyricist Kaithapram Damodaran Naboorthiri, actor-director Vineeth Kumar, and producer Siyad Koker, among others. As per Sibi, apart from getting remastered in 4K resolution with Dolby Atmos sound mixing, the version gearing up for rerelease has been re-edited to provide a fresh experience.

Devadoothan, which blended romantic and supernatural tropes, was a colossal failure at the box office upon its release. However, over the years, it has achieved a cult following among cinephiles for its unique narrative. The film revolves around Vishal Krishnamoorthy (Mohanlal), a gifted musician haunted by an enigmatic spirit that inspires his compositions. As he delves deeper into the mystery, he uncovers secrets from the past that intertwine with his own life and music.

Devadoothan, widely renowned for Vidyasagar's iconic soundtrack, also stars Jaya Prada, Murali, Jagathy Sreekumar, and Jagadish in prominent roles.

Meanwhile, another Mohanlal-starrer, Manichitrathazhu (1993), is also set for a rerelease this year.
