The makers of Pravinkoodu Shappu, headlined by Soubin Shahir and Basil Joseph, have announced January 16, 2025, as the release date. It follows the excellent response garnered by the film's recently released trailer. Written and directed by debutant Sreeraj Sreenivasan, it is an investigation thriller centered around a murder in a toddy shop.

The trailer introduced Basil Joseph as a cop investigating the case, while Soubin plays a differently abled man who is among the suspects. The film also stars Chemban Vinod Jose, Chandini Sreedharan, Niyas Aboobecker, Shabareesh Varma, Shivajith Padmanabhan, Joseph, George, Vijo (Mani), Sandeep, Revathy, Ramkumar, Rajeesh Azheekodan, Devaraj, Prathapan, and Jyothika.

Pravinkoodu Shappu, produced by ace filmmaker Anwar Rasheed, has music by Vishnu Vijay, cinematography by Shyju Khalid, and edits by Shafique Mohamed Ali.

Basil Joseph, last seen in Sookshmadarshini, also has Ponman and Marana Mass lined up for release. Meanwhile, Soubin is making his Tamil debut with the much-hyped Rajinikanth film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. It has also been announced that Soubin will be directing a film with Dulquer Salmaan soon.
