The makers of Dhyan Sreenivasan’s upcoming film Detective Ujjwalan announced on Monday via social media that the shooting has been completed. Written and directed by debutant duo Indraneel Gopeekrishnan and Rahul G, the film is set for release in 2025. Produced by Sophia Paul under the banner of Weekend Blockbusters, it is billed as an investigative thriller with a humorous undertone.

Detective Ujjwalan also features Siju Wilson alongside Dhyan and introduces Ameen, Nihal Nizam, Nibraz Noushad, and Shahubas, a quartet popular for their social media content. The film is the second instalment in the Weekend Cinematic Universe (WCU), which began with the Tovino Thomas-Basil Joseph starrer Minnal Murali (2021).

In a previous conversation with CE, co-director Indraneel stated that Detective Ujjwalan serves as an expansion of the Weekend Cinematic Universe, similar to how Iron Man and The Hulk coexist within the Marvel Cinematic Universe without being directly connected. The film's technical crew includes cinematographers Prem Akkattu and Sraiyanti, RDX-fame editor Chaman Chacko and music director Rzee.
