In the aftermath of the Malayalam film industry's #MeToo revelations, actor Usha has disclosed her own troubling experience with director Thulasidas. Speaking as the Vice President of the Progressive Arts and Literary Organisation of Alappuzha at the state conference in Kannur, Usha's disclosure follows similar allegations against the director by actors Geetha Vijayan and Sreedevika.

While narrating her experience, Usha said, “While working on the film Malappuram Haji Mahanaya Joji (1994), one day at 11 pm, he asked me to come to his room, saying it was to discuss the character. I declined, saying we could talk tomorrow.” She mentioned that when she confided in the lead actors Mukesh and Siddique, who recently had resigned as the General Secretary of AMMA, they laughed off her concerns. “Later, my role in the film was reduced in importance,” Usha added.

Usha recalled another instance when she was called to act in a different film by Thulasidas. She was given a room opposite his and, knowing his nature, she insisted on being moved to another room, a request that was refused according to the actor. “I left Alappuzha without acting in the film,” she said.

Usha further revealed that another fellow actor faced a similar situation. “Someone knocked on her door late at night. Ten minutes later, there was another knock,” the actor recounted, adding that the colleague, frightened, had called reception for help. Security personnel discovered Thulasidas peering through her half-open door and the staff confronted the director outside her room as per Usha.

She added, “The next day on set when we both arrived, the director called her over and sarcastically asked if she only stayed in hotels with security. When she mentioned someone had knocked on her door, he admitted that it was him.” Usha concluded that the actor faced continued inappropriate behaviour from Thulasidas until the end of the shoot.
