The Asif Ali-Biju Menon starrer Thalavan is set to stream on Sony LIV from September 10. The investigation thriller, directed by Jis Joy, was a successful venture at the box office hit. In a success meet held in July, the makers had also announced a sequel to it.

Scripted by newcomers Sharath Perumbavoor and Anand Thevarakkattu, Thalavan is centered around two police officers from different ranks and their strained relationship. The plot thickens when a murder occurs in a locality, with one of them being the prime suspect and the other tasked as the investigator.

The film was released worldwide on May 24 and received generally positive reviews. With a theatrical run of over 50 days, it became one of Asif's highest grossing films.

The sequel, titled Thalavan 2, is expected to begin only after Asif and Biju Menon wrap up their prior commitments. While Arun Narayan and Sijo Sebastian will be returning to produce the second part as well, the makers are yet to reveal other details.
