Rohit MG Krishnan won the Best Original Screenplay for his notable directorial debut, Iratta, at the 54th Kerala State Film Awards announced on Friday. The film, headlined and co-produced by Joju George, also secured the award for the Best Second Film.

In an exclusive conversation with CE, Rohit reacted to the win, saying, "I am extremely happy right now that I won this award for my first film itself. I don't know what more to say other than that." Thanking the cast and crew, the filmmaker added, "This film was a collaborative effort by so many people, so I would like to dedicate this award to all those who supported me in making it." Rohit also acknowledged the added responsibility this win brings, stating, "Naturally, people will expect more from my next film, and I will need to deliver to meet those expectations."

Iratta, streaming now on Netflix, is a mystery drama featuring Joju George in dual roles. The story revolves around the death of a policeman during his duty hours at a police station and the subsequent investigation led by his estranged twin brother.
